The di Rosa Preserve: Art & Nature

looking for a few great volunteers!

NAPA, CA - The di Rosa Preserve: Art & Nature is currently offering the
public very special access to one of the largest regional art collections in
the United States.  By becoming a volunteer tour guide, art enthusiasts are
able to enjoy the di Rosa collection as often as they like!  Di Rosa
volunteer guides are the public face of the Preserve and play an integral
role in supporting the long-term success of the most unique non-profit art
collection in the world!

The di Rosa Preserve is a non-profit art and nature destination.  A
celebration of contemporary California art, the Preserve opened to the
public in 1997.  The Preserve is a public gift from Rene di Rosa, who over
the course of forty years amassed nearly 2,000 works of art by hundreds of
San Francisco Bay Area artists.

The di Rosa volunteer guide's role

The current volunteer corps at the di Rosa Preserve is made up of uniquely
qualified, eclectic individuals who share a passion for learning about and
supporting regional art and artists.  Guides are trained to lead several
types of tours including the gallery tour and the seasonal sculpture meadow
tour.  A love of art and laughter plus an enthusiasm for sharing information
are prerequisite, as is a tour at the di Rosa Preserve.  Interested
potential guides may schedule a complimentary visit in order to familiarize
themselves with the diverse culture at the Preserve.  Current active guides
are available for conversation and mentoring.

The benefits of volunteering

The benefits of becoming a volunteer guide include:

.           Access to the di Rosa collection of contemporary California art;

.           Membership in the di Rosa Volunteer Council;

.           Private invitations to the di Rosa artist lecture series;

.           Special invitations to join local and national Volunteer Council
field trips and artist studio visits;

.           A monthly newsletter;

.           10% discount on retail merchandise and limited edition fine art
pieces;

.           Various social functions, plus guides are invited to bring a
guest for free each time they lead a tour!

Nature opportunities abound

Nature is central to the theme of the Preserve.  Volunteers may choose to
assist with one or several on-going nature projects, including creek side
restoration, native grass and wildflower propagation, preservation of the
olive grove, or event native plant trail development.

The di Rosa Preserve encompasses 53 acres in the Carneros region of the Napa
and Sonoma Valleys, including a 35-acre lake, an outdoor sculpture meadow
and four exhibition buildings.  Adjacent to the property are 162 acres of
natural wildlife preserve that will remain as protected open space in
perpetuity.  Art in many forms is displayed in harmony with nature: in
magnificent outdoor arenas, in an ancient olive grove and on the lake
itself.

Learn more!

The next volunteer guide training session will begin on June 14th.  While
guides-in-training must fully complete each of six classes in a training
session, sessions are repeated several times each year.  Classes are
scheduled one Saturday afternoon or weekday evening per week for six weeks
at the di Rosa Preserve.  Once trained, volunteers commit to leading at
least two tours per month.  Ongoing guide education is continuous and may
occur in such exclusive locations as private artist spaces and university
studios throughout the Bay Area.
